Cultural Alliance of York

Piece by piece, project by project, the Cultural Alliance of York County helps foster a thriving community. Through its financial investment in eight partner agencies and the Creative Impact Awards, we are creating new jobs, a healthier community, and smarter kids. From New Freedom to Hanover, downtown to east York, together through the arts we’re Creating One Community.

Founded as a United Arts Fund in 1999, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign has granted $7.5 million cash and more than $2 million in-kind support since 2000.

Community for Holistic Integration

CHI of Central PA is a community group with the intent to allow community members to share ideas in this online forum to promote community unification between Holistic practices and those that are more mainstream and common place.

Starting in January 2019, we will gather monthly to connect, educate, share ideas, trade services, grow as professionals, and work together to bring holistic services the public. Businesses and professionals who practice with honesty and integrity for the good of their community, who are not traditionally seen as Holistic are welcome to join as well! As we strive to work together and integrate Holistic practices into the every day of the modern word. Members include massage therapists & body-workers, nutritional consultants, health coaches, holistic nurses, chiropractors, acupuncturists, holistic retailers, psychotherapists, intuitive readers, yoga instructors, aromatherapists, sound therapists, & many other businesses supporting a holistic lifestyle.

It is the intent of this group to meet at least once a month to gather and share ideas, listen to speakers, and offer suggestions on unity and progression.

York Stands Up

York Stands Up has its roots in 2 other popular community organizations. The East Wind Project has done some great work in York County getting grassroots candidates elected to local offices. Lancaster Stands Up, (our namesake), has drawn national attention as a driving force for change in the Central PA region. It was decided that these groups could affect more change in the York area by joining forces.

York Stands Up has taken on the task of allying itself with other community groups. Building on the good works that have already created a foundation for positive change, we are working toward a people based approach to politics. As a non-partisan citizens advocacy group, we invite all interested citizens to join us. Our goal is to replace the status quo of politicians who are beholden to corporate sponsors with citizens who will champion the causes of the people they are to represent.

York Stands Up will continue to work for a more representative democracy, equal rights for all, and for cooperation instead of division in our communities. If we don’t stand together as a community, we will surely fall apart.

Keep York Beautiful

Keep York Beautiful focuses on litter prevention, waste reduction, recycling and community beautification. The following are highlights of our efforts:

1.) Assistance for illegal dump site cleanups and litter prevention.
2.) Annual Free Tire Disposal Program.

4.) A variety of youth and adult educational programs.
a.) Annual York City Elementary School Poster Contest.
b.) The Litter Letter Project.
c.) Litter Free School Zone.
d.) Watershed Education
5.) Maintains the Liberty Garden (a September 11th memorial) at Kiwanis Lake.
6.) Tree plantings.

Put People First

Put People First! PA gives voice to everyday people who are struggling to meet our basic needs. We define our basic needs as things we need to live healthy and fulfilling lives — things like education, housing, health care, jobs at living wages, food, and a healthy environment. We’re a membership organization made up mostly of people who know from our life experience that poor and working people need to unite and have a voice. No one else is going to do it for us. We’re building, county by county, all across Pennsylvania. We’re urban and rural. We’re multiracial. We’re politically independent. Until we unite, we don’t have the power to change things.

CASA

CASA's primary mission is to work with the community to improve the quality of life and fight for equal treatment and full access to resources and opportunities for low-income immigrants and their families. CASA also works with other low-income communities and organizations, makes its programs and activities available to them, and advocates for social, political, and economic justice for all low-income communities.

Seven Tribe Playground

Serving children ages 2 to 5 in mixed-age classes, Seven Tribe Playground is a preschool program in York, PA committed to spirited learning, imagination, and growth. Our program is child-centered and child-led.

Kids are capable, creative, curious, full of potential, and worthy of respect. They need 'Yes' spaces in which to play freely and feel valued, because it's through play that true learning takes place.

Much of our day is spent outside in nature. We have lots of open-ended materials that encourage exploration, creativity, and discovery.  Our indoor classrooms are inspired by nature and promote a sense of peace.

Our approach is holistic; we believe that developing social skills, emotional intelligence, and mindfulness is just as important as the ABC's and 123's. Our classes also include Spanish, music, art, and yoga.

Lower Susquehanna Riverkeepers

We are friends, neighbors, outdoorsmen, recreationalists, and families who want safe drinking water, sustainable use of natural resources, and the ability to fish and swim in the Susquehanna River and her tributaries.

Horn Farm Center

Volunteers are the life blood of the Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education. Thousands of volunteer hours transformed a dream into reality! All of our programs and operations continue to be dependent on volunteer contributions. Volunteers come in regularly or for one-time events. In all seasons, we have work to do: work an event, weed the gardens, help with the harvest, take photos, or paint walls. At the end of the day, we are all part of the Horn Farm community! Will you join us?
